Syrian Renewables is an independent platform specializing in data, analysis, and news related to Syria’s energy, environment, and emissions sectors. Established in 2025 as an independent, non-governmental initiative, the platform was created to build a structured and reliable source of information on Syria’s energy sector.
Syrian Renewables is not affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Energy, does not represent the Ministry or any Syrian government institution, and operates independently in both its management and editorial activities. The name “Syrian Renewables” has been part of the platform’s identity since its establishment in 2025.
The platform was created in response to the need to collect fragmented energy-sector information, verify and organize it, and transform it into accessible databases, indicators, reports, and practical analytical tools.
We monitor Syria’s electricity sector across generation, transmission, and distribution networks, substations, electricity supply hours, system losses, and regional interconnections. Our coverage also includes solar, wind, hydropower, energy storage, energy efficiency, oil and gas, refineries, pipelines, energy prices, emissions, policies, licensing, tenders, and investment activity.
Our work goes beyond reporting news. We aim to transform information into structured data and actionable knowledge that can support analysis and decision-making. This includes developing project trackers, interactive maps, policy and tender databases, price and employment datasets, periodic reports, and specialized research.
Our methodology prioritizes official sources, followed by international institutions, project developers and implementing companies, technical research, and reliable media. We clearly distinguish between announced, planned, licensed, under-construction, and operational projects, while also indicating data quality, limitations, estimates, and assumptions where confirmed information is unavailable.
The platform serves researchers, policymakers, investors, institutions, international organizations, media professionals, experts, and the wider public. Our objective is to strengthen transparency and open access to information while improving understanding of Syria’s energy-sector conditions, rehabilitation needs, and development opportunities.
Syrian Renewables operates independently while cooperating, where appropriate, with experts, institutions, and initiatives working on energy, environmental issues, and reconstruction. Such cooperation does not compromise the platform’s editorial independence, source transparency, data ownership principles, or verification standards.
