News & updates

The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) organized a knowledge-exchange mission in Egypt on 22 October 2025, bringing together a delegation from Syria’s National Energy Research Center and specialized Egyptian energy institutions.

The visit focused on strengthening regional technical cooperation, exchanging institutional expertise, and exploring opportunities for collaboration in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Technical cooperation and capacity building

The program began at RCREEE headquarters in Cairo, where Executive Director Prof. Mohamed Abdel Razek presented the center’s regional activities and its role in supporting energy transition and capacity-building programs across Arab countries.

Discussions covered potential areas of cooperation including technical studies, infrastructure development, support for renewable energy projects, professional training, and institutional capacity building.

The Syrian delegation included specialists in solar energy, wind power, energy efficiency, electrical engineering, and project management from the National Energy Research Center.

Visit to Egypt’s renewable energy authority

The delegation also visited Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), where participants reviewed Egyptian experience in solar and wind energy projects and explored research and development activities related to photovoltaic technologies and solar-cell performance.

Expanding regional energy cooperation

The visit concluded with an emphasis on maintaining technical coordination and knowledge exchange between the participating institutions and exploring opportunities for joint programs in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

For Syria, such exchanges can provide access to regional technical experience as the country works to rehabilitate its energy infrastructure and expand the role of renewable energy technologies.
