The Syrian Ministry of Energy launched the Syrian Energy Portal on 31 August 2026, introducing a unified digital system designed to provide access to ministry services, licensing procedures, complaints and inquiries through authenticated user accounts.
The launch was announced during the ministry's participation in the 63rd Damascus International Fair as part of its broader digital-transformation programme.
What is currently available?
The portal interface identifies both the Complaints and Inquiries Platform and the Licensing Platform as “Available Now”. Users can create accounts, sign in and follow submitted applications and their status electronically.
Within the licensing platform, fuel-station licensing is currently shown as operational. Syria's official SANA news agency reported on 30 August that around 640 electronic fuel-station licence applications had already been submitted and were being processed before eligible applications move to specialised committees and field inspections.
Which services are still “Coming Soon”?
The portal also reveals a considerably broader pipeline of planned services covering petroleum, water, electricity and mining.
Upcoming petroleum services include licences for gas facilities, waste-oil recycling and asphalt oxidation plants. Water- and mining-related licences, including services connected to wells, drinking-water activities and quarries, are also currently marked “Coming Soon”.
Most notably for the renewable-energy sector, the Electricity section includes dedicated services for solar power plant licences and wind farm licences for electricity generation. Both are currently marked “Coming Soon”.
Their presence indicates that the portal has been structured to eventually incorporate renewable-energy licensing procedures. However, their appearance should not be interpreted as evidence that applications are already being accepted until the ministry formally activates those services.
Why does the portal matter?
The system represents a move towards a central digital access point for Ministry of Energy services, rather than merely another information website. Its practical impact will depend on how quickly the planned services become operational and how comprehensively application, licensing and tracking procedures are digitised.
