Daraa's economy is primarily based on agriculture and food production, particularly wheat, barley, tomatoes, potatoes, vegetables and irrigated crops, alongside livestock. Agriculture remains a major source of household income and is closely linked to water availability and the energy required for irrigation and pumping. Industrial activity is gradually recovering, particularly food processing and canning linked to local agricultural production; 42 canning facilities resumed production during the 2026 tomato season. Daraa's existing industrial zone has also reopened, while planning for a new industrial city is underway.
